Gilded Lillie

Tucked within the painted layers of the petals in this fun and bold collage are pieces of vintage sewing patterns from Vogue: circa 1980's!  DIY dress patterns are pretty much remnants of a bygone era, but I wanted to give this one new life, along with scraps of old palette paper and decorative Chiyogami paper, handmade in Kyoto Japan. Gilded Lillie invites the viewer to contemplate the relationship between past and present, and the ways in which old artifacts can be given new life through the medium of contemporary art.

Gilded Lillie is a mixed media artwork on a 18"x24"x.1.5”(d) stretched canvas. This artwork will arrive with painted edges, ready to hang.
