Wet Cyanotypes
COMING SOON!
This collection features handcrafted cyanotype art and elegant home decor items that capture the delicate balance of light, nature, and chemistry. Each piece is carefully crafted using natural elements and an alternative photographic process known as “Wet Cyanotype” - a unique collaboration between the artist, sunlight, organic materials, and a photosensitized substrate such as paper, fabric or wood. Through sun exposure and a multi-step progression of natural chemical washes, the wet cyanotype process reveals gorgeous abstract images of natural materials. These may include leaves, seafoam, corals that have washed ashore, flowers and other organic items. Because these “sun prints” are heavily influenced by each component’s individual chemistry and the varying effects of UV sunlight, the results are never 100% predictable, and never exactly repeatable.
Perfect for art collectors, interior design enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates one-of-a-kind art with a story. This work celebrates the beauty of organic shapes, natural textures, and calm blue hues.
Shop these prints in person at the North Carolina Museum of Art starting in October, 2024.
