Secret Garden

I've always loved gardens. When I was a kid, I treasured my copy of the classic children's book, the Secret Garden, and the intrigue of finding a hidden key and a wild and tangled world waiting to be discovered behind a wall - a place where possibilities bloom.

A few years ago, our family was traveling through Denmark and found ourselves in a region that farms roses...acres and acres of them! Our inn had a walled garden terrace where the five of us spent the evening dining, laughing, drinking wine, and breathing in the rose-perfumed air. It was magical! That memory inspired this dreamy pastel and acrylic painting which holds a secret of its own: a small brass key.
